Giving new life to old paintings

Hi lovely Creatives,

I haven't been posting here since a while! How have you been doing?

We have been delivering our online journey Exploring Light and Dark (which we loved doing!) and I've been re-engaging with my personal art making. The festive season is approaching and I've been finding this to be a time where people feel investing in some colorful paintings, I often take the chance in this time of the year to share a bit more my artworks.

In the process of preparing my work for the upcoming Christmas market (it's tomorrow in London if you want to swing by is in 4 Coburg Road KARAMEL N226UJ!). I've been doing some nice discoveries which I want to share with you on ways you can give new life to your old paintings.

  • Cutting small compositions

  • Using pieces of the painting and collage them in another sheet of paper

  • Giving them another use: transforming them into a card, wrapping paper, bookmark or even Xmas decorations!

Any other ideas here?

Together with being fun I also found this extremely therapeutic because:

- It's a meditative process, I had a couple of cardboards cut in the sizes I needed and got to cut out the compositions without overthinking them too much.

- It initiates the process of letting go of giving away what does not serve me to create more space to focus on new paintings and ideas.

-it helped me re organizing and declutter my studio

Some images here from the process. Little tip: I've been getting frames from second hand shops and re painted them :) There are endless ways for this practice to be an affordable one and I am committed through our workshops to help you use what you have <3

xmas decorations:

I want to invite you to look at your old paintings (the ones you have been hiding in old sketchbooks and cupboards) and see if you can give them new life and purpose.

And if you feel like it share your discoveries here in the Community space.

WE would love to see and learn from each other.

Lots of Love, Bea
