Dear creative you,

I wanted to share with you a little update...

I haven't been posting in this Community sharing here since a while. I have to say, I created this community space without a proper structure and content "strategy" and I love the spontaneity of it.

I share here what I discover and practice especially around my art making, and I want it to feel spacious for you to go through the content we share in your own timing. I love to bring people together through art and from time to time I'll use this space to invite artist and creatives to share what they have to share with the world, through talks and sessions.

We are also in the process of putting together some pre recorded content part of a online journey, an imagination station where you can tend do when you are looking for creative inspiration... Will keep you posted on that but we are aiming to release it with the new year 2025 (I am very excited for this) :)

So this is what you can expect from here, nothing more or less :)

I also wanted to remind you that you are always welcome to use this space too, by sharing any images or thoughts around your creation (no matter the medium you use), I would be delighted to read you and see what you are creating.

What is happening in my sketchbook...

Since our creative talk with Viola Hortova (if you missed it the recording is in Sessions Recordings and Resources) I've been kind of obsessed with flowers :), observing shapes and colors, and try to draw and paint them.

Trying to draw visible subjects it is a very vulnerable place for me to be in, I am so much into abstract painting, by now I feel very comfortable with no aiming for any specific outcome or looks... So when I try to represent something visible, I feel much more pressure and expectation... I wonder why...? Maybe more than anything it is because trying new things or doing the things we are not so used to, bring some sort of fear and uncomfortable feelings...

I wanted to show you a flowery sketch I've been working on and tell you a bit about the process...

I recently purchased for very little price these second hand acrylic paints. They are beautiful colors and great quality. What I love the most about using found colors is that I get to experiment with shades and tones that I wouldn't have bought for myself otherwise. Especially the purples and the yellows... (as some of you know, I usually create my own colors using just the 3 primary colors, gray and white! So this is a change!).

What I often do when I get new colors is that I start to create my color chart. Trying to mix them and see how they look once they dry. While doing so, I put aside my sketchbook, I scribble with paint and water, and just see what happens!

After creating a "messy" and "random" background I decided this time to draw flowers with a white oil pastel. I then colored the petals with a light grey color I had.

I then darkened the background with blue...

I am quite happy with how it looks like right now... I also added another sketch with smaller scale flowers and greens. I've started to paint it later on when my color chart reached greens.

This is how my painting table looks like right now :)

What about you? How is your sketchbook looking like? I would love to see <3

Here some photos of flowers I took during my walks the last couple of weeks, I wish I knew the name of all of them (do you?).

I share them with the hope that they will bring some inspiration, especially to those that need it the most <3

Take care, Bea
